What is a proper noun? 

A proper noun is a specific name given to any particular thing, place, person, etc.

• Places: New York City, Paris, etc

Nouns are words that are used to name something such as a place, person, thing, etc. We use nouns everywhere in our speech and writing. Nouns perform different roles in a sentence- they can act as a subject, a direct and indirect object, a subject complement, and an object complement. They can function as verbs as well as adjectives.  Some examples of nouns are Soha, Sudir, India, America, Cycle, Curtains, etc.

There are different types of Nouns. They can be proper, common, concrete, abstract, collective, compound, countable and uncountable nouns. We will learn about Proper nouns today.

What are proper nouns?

Proper nouns are nouns that are used to name a particular thing, example person,  place, thing, organization, etc. It's easy to identify a proper noun as they are always written in capital letters.
